This gay Republican leader says Trump is more pro-LGBT than Obama
The leader of the Log Cabin Republicans, a pro-LGBT facet of the Republican party, Gregory T. Angelo, is doubling down on his belief that Donald Trump is the most pro-LGBT Republican president.
He made the comment at last year’s Conservative Political Action Conference (CPAC).
At this year’s event, he said it again.
Michelangelo Signorile, of the Huffington Post, pressed him about it in an interview.

He ambivalently said marriage equality is the ‘law of the land’ after the Obergefell decision, without offering his own stance.
What’s the reality?
Log Cabin Republicans have defended Trump before.
Angelo further said in the interview: ‘As I’ve long said, if you’re calling Donald Trump out for what are actual or perceived biases against the LGBT community, you have to call a spade a spade, highlighting the pro-LGBT things he has done.’
But the facts reveal something different.
‘If I’m elected I would be very strong in putting certain judges on the bench that I think maybe could change things,’ he said prior to his win. This was specifically in reference to overturning Obergefell.
He did this early on in his term when he nomined Supreme Court Justice Neil Gorsuch.
It’s a definite shift from Obama’s record.
